FAQs

How do I decide if Doing Being Therapy is a good fit for me?
Take advantage of a free, 15 minute new client consultation with Will. In this call you will discuss what brings you to therapy, get a feel for Will’s approach to therapy, and ask any questions you need. At the end of the call you may choose to schedule an initial session or continue your search and reply later if you desire.

What is an intake session like?
Your first session typically involves a review of informed consent to treatment, discussing your reasons for seeking therapy, your personal background, and setting general goals for treatment. This helps your therapist understand your needs and tailor the approach.

Will I need to provide any paperwork before the first appointment?
Yes, you will need to complete some basic intake forms that include personal information, consent forms, and insurance details if applicable. These are easily completed online via Headway.

What do I need to prepare for my first session?
Ensure you have a private, quiet space with a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and any relevant information or questions you want to discuss. Make it comfy! It really does help to have a space you look forward to having your therapy sessions in if possible.

How long is each therapy session?
Standard sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long. However, the length will vary to meet your needs each session.

Is therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a legal and ethical requirement. People simply would have no reason to trust a therapist if this commitment was not there. It is important to notice that there are nuanced limits to confidentially related to safety. You can count on Will to discuss these limits with you directly in your first session so you have a clear picture of what to expect.

What if I don’t feel comfortable with my therapist or I decide we’re not a good fit?
More than anything I (Will) value you having the best support possible—even if it isn’t with me. I encourage clients to make their own assessment as to how helpful our therapeutic relationship is for reaching toward their goals. If you ever felt that you weren’t making the progress you hoped or you experience barriers to improvement that aren’t being resolved, I will support you through finding another clinician who can meet your current needs.

How often will I have sessions?
The frequency of sessions is based on your personal goals and needs. The most common progression is to begin with a period of weekly therapy for initial assessment and intervention before graduating to biweekly and then monthly sessions as needed. Our goal is to determine the most effective frequency of sessions to meet your support needs.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Doing Being Therapy accepts various payment methods, including insurance, self-pay, and in some cases, sliding scale fees. Please reach out with any specific inquires.

Can I cancel or reschedule appointments?
Yes! We have to flex with life as it comes. We request at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling to avoid any fees. Please reach out soon as possible if you need to make changes.
